Portsea Surf Life Saving Club
Not just a building, it’s a place of meaning

The building that stands so grand and proud amongst the sandbanks, it creates a home base for community and working together.
Created for a third-year university project, we were asked to photograph a building of significance within Melbourne or its surrounds and create an accompanying magazine.
I chose to photograph the Portsea Surf Life Saving Club in Portsea Victoria because ever since I first visited this building on a weekend trip I fell in love with it. This building is not just for its looks but it’s home to the local surf life-saving club and a clubhouse. This building sits on the banks overlooking Portsea Back Beach where it shines in the sunlight from all angles and reflects its environment with timber, glass, and aging concrete.
